The New York Stock Exchange recently hosted a special event to welcome the team behind NASA’s SPHEREx mission. The SPHEREx team, including members from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California and BAE Systems Inc., participated in the closing bell ceremony at the NYSE in New York City.
SPHEREx, short for Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe, Epoch of Reionization and Ices Explorer, is a groundbreaking astrophysics observatory launched by NASA. The mission aims to unravel the mysteries of the universe’s origins and structure, marking a significant milestone in space exploration.
One of the key features of the SPHEREx observatory is its ability to map the universe comprehensively using 102 color filters to survey the sky rapidly. Data collected by the observatory will be processed and archived at IPAC at Caltech, enhancing our understanding of the universe’s intricacies.
